This is a gourd birdhouse I made for my daughter, Tina, a few years ago for her birthday!

 ~Sitting on my shadowy window shelf, before I gave it to her~

I think Sunflowers are perfect designs for gourd art and I did several of these !

I wish I could find time to get back into my crafting again!

Pink Saturday~July21, 2012~ Christmas in July??

In the past I was deeply into crafting and my favorite things to make were Christmas figures-especially Santas.

Here are a couple examples of what I liked to do ~ and they just happen to be in Pink!

 :)

 This santa is all original papier mache'! By all original I mean no molds were used in the creating of these figures, so, even though I made a LOT of these, no 2 were ever the same.

 
I made them in different sizes too. This one is just over 12 inches tall. He is one of just a few that I dressed in pink!

  :)  Even in pink, this guy is no sissy! Look at that heavy bag of toys on his back!!

 (I made this one especially for my own home-to use in my rose/pink living room.)

 I signed and dated all that I made and I see this was #3 - in 1991.

 
These next ones are painted gourd santas.

The first one is a medium size hanging santa, which I use at a window with lights all around him. Most of my gourds I painted red but this one is a rose/pink!

The others here are made from small gourds-ornament size!

  I also made some cone and papier mache' trees. I decorated this one with tiny pink roses. It's 12 inches tall!

It's starting again... (moved from Junie's Place)

It's starting again...

The annual invasion of strange characters has begun... It happens ever year around this time ; sometimes a little earlier and sometimes later...but, without fail, my house will be invaded with an assortment of weirdos before the end of October!

This weird fellow showed up at my house tonight - uninvited, I might add - the first I've seen so far!

What is a little strange and perplexing to me is that his lady, Ms Pumpkin Head, is not with him! To be honest, she seemed the nicer of the two when they visited last year - a little less intimidating... not quite as goofy-looking ... and she had a more sincere smile and demeanor... perhaps a wee bit more class than this clown! For the most part, though, they seemed suited to each other...and I never knew of any discord between them!

Seeing this Pumpkin Head Clown show up alone has me a bit concerned... To be honest -I'm worried that Ms Pumpkin Head  may have come to some harm!

Oh! I guess you're wondering if I asked  The Clown about her...Well, yes, of course I did ask! All I got for my efforts was a goofy smile! I really don't know what to make of that...but it leaves me 'uneasy!'

Maybe she is hanging back with the witches who usually show up together - although I didn't see the witches mingling with her at all last year.

Only time will tell!

This time I'm bringing you Christmas in July with one of my craft santas which I made several years ago!

This is one of many original paper mache
santas I created, and the only one I did in blue! 

I used Christmas wrap and sparkly paint to make his robe. Sparkly paint also accents his beard and fur trim on hat and robe.

This one stands about 9 1/2 inches. The date on the bottom says I made it in 1992!

This Tin Man hangs out at my place!
He's not a creation of mine or my husband's, though.



I saw several of these in my neighborhood a couple years ago just before Christmas and expressed a desire to have one for my back yard.
My husband surprised me with this guy as one of my gifts!
:)

He's made out of tin cans, mostly, and painted silver.

For this posting , though, I have turned him sepia!

He makes me smile! :)
